Energy Umpire

Energy Umpire is an independent energy comparison service in Australia. Customers get free annual energy comparisons and there is a premium service where customers choose to access ongoing savings and have their prices checked. After two years Energy Umpire is now on the way to a consistent and scale-able customer acquisition strategy, through online advertising. A base for substantial marketing and customer functions for Energy Umpire is located in Delhi and we would like to add a development capability to take our business to the next stage.

The task

We’re growing and need to develop efficient systems to manage a larger number of customers. These systems include: improving the online onboarding form, enhancing the customer management and reporting application, developing systems to scrape customer bills and retailer and/or Government websites to capture the details of different offers.

Our needs

We’re looking for a talented developer well versed in Front-End and Back-End web application development. You’ll get to work on challenging projects with important languages and technologies (like NodeJS, MongoDB, Python) and expected to put your own ideas on the table.

Job Requirements

– Experienced in working with MVC architecture for web development.
– Fluent in programming languages and frameworks such as JS, Jquery, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, NodeJS, ExpressJS.
– Experience with Front End frameworks such as React, AngularJS is a bonus.
– Experienced in working with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby for data extraction and processing.
– Experienced in working with SQL (Ex: MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) based database technologies for data modelling and querying.
– Experienced in working with 3 rd party APIs, and creating your own if required.
– Experience in creating documentation and user guides for software.

Personal qualities and communication

– Communication skills and experience in interacting with clients for translating business requirements.
– Capability in undertaking business needs analysis in direct consultation.
– Be a self-starter, displaying initiative in seeing needs, building functionality and leading developments.
– Capability to develop a detailed understanding of our business requirements.
– Excellent spoken and written English language capabilities required.
– A project portfolio that showcases the required skills is a bonus.

Remuneration

An attractive package will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. This role will be preferably full time although part time of at least 3 days/week may be considered.
