What It Is
The Foreign National Student Intern Program is for Indonesian students attending Indonesian universities, and provides experience in various sections of the Embassy to support Mission objectives.
The timing of the internship program will be as follows:
An internship at the U.S. Missions to Indonesia/ASEAN not only offers exceptional knowledge and valuable experience working in the foreign affairs arena, but also offers the opportunity to network and socialize with other employees.
Intern duties and responsibilities may vary by office of assignment and may include research, correspondence, information systems enhancements, analysis of international issues, translation, visa/consular work, customer service, budget and fiscal support, and human resources.
There is no compensation or benefits for this internship, nor any future employment rights granted. Interns will participate in this program at their own expense, but gain invaluable experience.
Who We Are
The U.S. Missions to Indonesia/ASEAN are comprised of some 20 different U.S. Government agencies. The Department of State, the primary presence at the Embassy, is the official international relations arm of the President of the United States. The Department is responsible for formulating, implementing, and supporting U.S. foreign policy, assisting U.S. citizens abroad, and managing the human and material resources that provide the platform for U.S. foreign policy. Members of the Department’s Foreign Service and Civil Service are engaged in issues such as conflict resolution, nuclear non-proliferation, human rights and democracy, environmental issues, world trade, public diplomacy, and the promotion of the interests of Americans and their businesses abroad. Department of State employees are also involved in support and management issues and improving logistical systems to get the best possible value for tax dollars.
